The examples provided in this article all have to do with people electing to put TW on their own social media posts. How is this relevant to TW usage requests in academia? The author is outraged over the fact that people on Facebook have chosen of their own volition to put content warnings and trigger warnings on their own social media posts — and yes, some of those chosen TWs include things like Pokemon & Police. What’s the issue here? Nobody forced these people to put up these tags. Maybe they have a friend who actually has a very good reason to be triggered by those things. I am not the arbiter of what a reasonable trigger is, and neither are you. Regardless of how silly you might think a Pokemon TW is, nobody was required or pushed to place them on their Facebook posts. The fact that somebody chose to use a TW in that way is irrelevant to this discussion.
