I don’t think Tinder has anything to do with this. In a more egalitarian world, casual sex would not have the dangerous, dehumanizing potential consequences that it sometimes does in our world — and even when casual sex and dating does involve these things, it’s the fault of a hateful person who has been corrupted by the culture; it’s not the casual sex itself that is to blame.
To equate publically shaming someone for raping another person with literally hanging them until dead is just ridiculous. Bill O’Reilly and Charlie Rose are not only alive, they’re in talks for new shows. People are already writing essays about when Ansari and Louis CK should be forgiven. Rapists are very much alive, and sometimes even their careers haven’t been killed by victims speaking out. To claim otherwise is posturing couched as concern.
