It’s really imprecise to equate drive-by shootings and mass murder.
It’s really imprecise to equate drive-by shootings and mass murder. It’s deeply faulty logic to pivot from one to the other. They’re different crimes, they require different levels of planning, the types of people who engage in them are different generally in terms of race, socioeconomic status, and motive, the weapons used are different, the social pressures leading to and exacerbating the crimes are different, the death toll per event is different, everything is different. What’s similar is that both are largely enacted by men, it’s true, and that both are facilitated by easy access to unregulated guns. So let’s work on giving men better emotional tools and lets remove guns from their emotional toolbox, shall we?
