Oh my gosh, this is my favorite comment I've received on this piece by far. I really appreciate you sharing all of this with me. I can resonate with what you had to say about finding value in DFW's writing as a tool of self-exploration and reflection. I have some toxic male traits too, and I do love how he grabbles with his own toxicity, especially in Brief Interviews... it's still compelling stuff, though now it's also kind of retraumatizing at times to consume. I think the nuanced perspective and appreciation you're bringing to the work is so admirable. And thank you for that link!
