Such a good reminder. Even those of us who are ‘lucky’ enough to be in an accepting-ish environment still suffered under heteronormativity, lack of queer representation, and all kinds of negative stereotypes of queer people as confused/going through a phase/being an oddity to be denied. We’ve just had it so bad that the present level of bad seems like a blessing at times. Even the mildest form of homophobia still takes a toll!
