Thank you for sharing this! A few years ago, I put a lot of time into editing, formatting, cover-designing, and self-publishing a few books I had written. One (sold for free on Amazon) took off really well…the rest (which I charged between $2.99–0.99 for) were pretty piddly, despite doing giveaways, interviews, promotions on social media/my tumblr, etc. I’ve had so much more success reaching people & making money here on Medium. Of course, publishing fiction and putting essays on here are very different beasts.
