Thank you for such a thoroughly well-researched piece that seamlessly interweaves the personal, the global, and the historical. The parallels between today and the Wiemar Republic before the Nazis came to power terrifies me constantly. So I appreciate that this piece also is very realistic and nuanced about the fact that today is not the 1920s, and we are not the same country, and that the rise of fascism is not some inevitable cyclical thing we can only sit and feel dread about.
