Thank you for this comment James! That Anne Rice connection is super interesting and makes total sense. I knew those novels were important to a lot of queer people and goths at the time, but I had no idea people were going to gay clubs at that time rocking victorian vampire looks! Gosh, that sounds lovely. It is so fascinating to me how the nerd/cosplay/fanfic worlds dovetail with the counter-cultural worlds of goths and punks, and with queer communities. So much overlap in interest and in membership, yet they are also distinct spaces a lot of the time.
