Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. My great-grandmother used to have a real connection with the hummingbirds that came to feed in the back yard of her rural Pennsylvania home, at a feeder she could see through her kitchen window. Shortly after she passed, my grandmother, her daughter, was visited by a single hummingbird out of her own kitchen window, hundreds of miles away in Ohio. It just lingered there staring at her, bringing her comfort and a memory of her mom when she needed it most. After that, whenever my grandmother went to visit the area in Pennsylvania where she grew up, she was visited by hummingbirds no matter where she went. I know seeing them has meant so much to her over the years. This year my grandmother is planning to take a trip to visit the cabin in Pennsylvania that her parents helped build decades ago. She says it will be her "last" visit there; she's in good health but always talks about the future in hypotheticals now. I hope she gets to see a lot of the hummingbirds that she remembers watching there together with her mom. I'm so glad the orioles brought you and Sam some peace this year.
