Thanks for your comment — and it’s super interesting to hear that your kid’s play centers on child characters! For whatever reason my play as a kid was always about the lives of adults, even when the toys were childlike-looking or ambiguous in age (because I mostly played with animal figures more than human dolls). I wonder which is more developmentally typical, or if kids tend to respond to the stories and toys being offered to them, and decide who gets to be the heroes of their stories from there. I’d assume it’s something like that — in which case having young kid dolls is especially affirming and empowering. Anyway thanks for all you’ve written here.
