This piece isn’t about my opinion. It’s about what a preponderance of self-advocates argue for. Their work and writing on the subject is what conviced me to advocate for it as well — I don’t personally have a strong horse in this race. It’s absurd to act as though groups can’t pool together and advocate, as groups, for common goals. Demanding that I only write about my singular opinion obscures the reality of group based oppression. Yes every individual can have their own opinion on these matters but that’s an entirely different matter than the project of disabled advocacy as activism.
