Totally! Freedom is so much more than the absence of a restriction, after all, so much of it comes down to being empowered, educated, and able to communicate and connect, which these kids are really pervasively being denied the ability to do. And focusing on the rights of parents without considering the current and future rights of kids really deeply dehumanizes and objectifies them in absolutely terrifying ways. so many legal fights over 'protecting' children seem to hinge on parents thinking they own their kids and get to decide (and limit) their futures for them.
