Happy humpday,
Here’s the video recording of my latest essay, How to be a content creator without crashing out or losing yourself. In this livestreamed conversation I read the full piece aloud, provide image & video descriptions, unpack some of the links & media references, and speak with the chat about parasociality, influencer self-involvement, and the ways that social media manipulates our relationships to one another.
I also recap a tiny bit of the Beguiled hypnosis kink convention I was visiting this weekend (especially its amazing accessibility and COVID mitigation protocols).
If you’d ever like to join a live read-along and participate in the chat while it is happening, check out my Twitch channel. The recordings will always be on my Youtube.
This month I’m thinking all about social media dynamics and how to navigate them shrewdly. My next newsletter will be about what to do if you ever find yourself on the receiving end of a public cancellation/callout campaign; the piece after that will discuss what to do if you want to hold a person or institution accountable, and you’re wondering if cancelling/calling out is a tactic that’s worth it for you. (We will be approaching public callouts as a tool that can be used in any number of good, bad, ambivalent, effective, or ineffective ways, depending on the situation).
See ya soon!
I appreciate the live stream reading commentary.
