Yeah. As a child, I was often told how to sit/stand/present myself, either to make me more gender-conforming, or more often, to make me seem less odd/neuroatypical. Parents and teachers who did that shit really thought they were helping me…they thought it was more useful for me to mask what made me odd than it was to make people more tolerant of oddness. And in the process, they highlighted my oddness, made my oddness less acceptable, and filled me with anxiety and a sense of shame. It sucked!
