You lost me a bit with your bafflement that The New Yorker runs fiction. Some of the most iconic short stories in the 20th century canon were first published in The New Yorker. They’ve had a fiction-specific podcast for years and years. It’s really odd to me that people don’t know this. But I guess it speaks to the non-viral nature of most fiction. It’s deeply saddening to me though.
